Why We started the Community Garden at Mt. Zion
Because worship doesn’t stop at the church doors.
Because we believe God is still planting hope in hard places.
Because we are a garden—rooted in faith, reaching toward hope, bearing the fruit of the Spirit.
🍅 Food Insecurity in Baltimore is Real:
– Over 144,000 Baltimore residents struggle to access nutritious food
– 30,000 of them are children
– A 2023 JHU survey shows 37% of Black households report food insecurity—more than double that of White households
That’s why we planted tomatoes and greens.
That’s why we cleared the soil and built the boxes.
That’s why we pray with our hands in the dirt.
Because worship looks like feeding neighbors.
Because “We are a garden.”
And in this season, God is growing something right here. Watch us grow with updates below.
